Direct-Workforce Service
Craftsman Pipe Organs provides tuning, maintenance, repair, restoration, rebuilding, and installation services through a primarily in-house workforce. Our technicians are Craftsman employees, and our in-house apprenticeship program helps develop the next generation of pipe-organ technicians.
For an owner, that means working with the company that employs the people caring for the instrument. Questions about findings, the agreed scope, and decisions during the work come back to Craftsman.
Our workforce
Our own employees carry out our primary service work. When a project needs additional expertise, we may bring in an outside trade or specialist. We explain their involvement and identify who will perform that part of the work in the project documents.
An organ project can involve more than the instrument itself. Electrical, structural, rigging, engineering, or permitting requirements are addressed for the particular project, with responsibilities identified in the written scope.
Developing the next generation
Craftsman has an in-house apprenticeship program for developing pipe-organ technicians. Training is part of how we support the long-term care of these instruments and the continuation of the trade.
For a broader introduction to the work and the skills it involves, see Pipe Organ Technician Careers.
A clear scope and a useful record
The proposal sets out the work for your instrument, who will perform it, and the project terms. That gives you a written reference for discussing the work before it begins.
Written findings, work records, and closeout documentation help preserve what is learned about the organ. Those records support future service and continuity when responsibility for the instrument changes. Learn more about Documentation and Closeout.
Talk with us about your organ
Tell us where the instrument is located, what service or problem you need help with, and your timing. We can review those details with you as the starting point for a proposal.
